Software Engineering Fellow
Fellowship, Flexible • Mentorship-Driven LearningAbout the Role
The WhoBe Fellowship is a structured, learning-focused engineering program designed to bridge the gap between academic study and real-world software engineering practice.
Built by founders with backgrounds in large-scale infrastructure and product engineering at companies such as Meta and Coinbase, the program emphasizes hands-on mentorship, systems thinking, and exposure to real-world engineering workflows in an early-stage, pre-revenue environment.
Fellows work closely with the founding team in a highly supervised setting, where the primary objective is educational growth rather than production output. The program is designed to help participants develop practical engineering skills, including backend systems, product architecture, and infrastructure thinking, through guided exploration and applied learning.
Rather than focusing on predefined deliverables or commercial outcomes, the fellowship encourages fellows to engage in exploratory technical work aligned with their learning goals. This includes understanding how early-stage systems are designed, iterated, and scaled, while receiving direct mentorship from experienced engineers.
The program is flexible and designed to accommodate academic schedules, with a strong emphasis on long-term skill development, engineering intuition, and professional readiness.
The WhoBe Fellowship is not a traditional employment relationship and does not guarantee future employment. Instead, it serves as a structured pathway for emerging engineers to transition from academic environments into real-world technical practice through mentorship-driven learning.
