1. Introduction & Scope

Tip+ (“Tip+”, “we”, “our”, or “us”) is a hospitality tip management platform delivered by HowBe. This policy covers three products:

  • Tip+: Restaurant Tip Manager — iOS app for restaurant owners and managers.
  • Tip+: Hotel Tip Collection — iOS app for hotel staff to receive cashless guest tips.
  • tipplus.org — web dashboard for owners overseeing one or more properties.

Because these products serve different roles, their data handling differs. Each section below describes what applies to each product. By using Tip+, you agree to the practices described here.

2. Tip+: Restaurant Tip Manager (iOS)

The developer does not collect any data from this app.

We do not collect, transmit, distribute, or sell your personal data, employee records, shift templates, tip data, or financial information to our servers or any third parties. The Restaurant Tip Manager operates without requiring you to share any data with HowBe.

All data entered into the app — distribution rules, employee information, shift details, and calculated tips — is stored completely locally on your device. We do not have access to your data, and we do not back it up to any external servers. Deleting the app from your device will permanently remove all of your Tip+ Restaurant data.

3. Tip+: Hotel Tip Collection (iOS)

The Hotel Tip Collection app processes cashless tips from guests to individual staff members. To support this, we and our payment processor collect the minimum information required to complete a payment and credit the correct staff member.

This may include: staff identifier (name, role, property), payout account details, tip transaction records, and guest payment authorization data handled by our payment processor. We do not store guest card numbers on our servers — card handling is performed by our payment processor under industry-standard security controls.

We use this data solely to: (a) route tips to the correct staff recipient, (b) settle payouts, (c) provide receipts and history to the staff member and their operator, and (d) meet legal, tax, and fraud-prevention obligations. We do not sell your data.

4. tipplus.org (Web Dashboard)

tipplus.org is a server-hosted dashboard for business owners. To provide it, we store account credentials (email, hashed password or SSO identifier), organization and property configuration, staff records linked from the Hotel and Restaurant apps, aggregated tip and payout data, and standard web server logs (IP address, browser, timestamps) for security and reliability.

We use this data solely to operate the dashboard, present your properties' data back to you, generate reports, and secure your account. We do not sell your data.

5. Practices Across All Products

Data ownership. You retain ownership of the data you input. We act as a processor on your behalf where applicable.

Sharing. We do not sell personal data. We share data only with service providers required to run the product (e.g., payment processor, cloud hosting) under contract, or when required by law.

Security. We use industry-standard encryption for data in transit and at rest for server-side products, and rely on iOS platform protections for locally-stored data.

Your rights. You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your data. See our Data Deletion page for the request process.
